This was a CHCQ mentored capstone project for three second year MHA students working on 5W, 5E and 4E in University hospital to examine current pain management processes and outcomes. The project was completed Spring 2008. The students developed detailed pain management flowcharts, pilot tested a pain management tool, and conducted a pain knowledge and perception survey of staff nurses. The results of this project were shared with nursing units and the UH Pain Management Taskforce.
