Examination of Congruence of Patient and Staff Perceptions re: Patient Satisfaction

This was a CHCQ mentored capstone project for three second year MHA students working on 5W in University hospital to determine the extent to which patients and staff thought about patient satisfaction. The goal was to determine if there were similarities or differences between how patients define patient satisfaction and what staff believe contributes to patient satisfaction. Although this project was completed in the Spring of 2007, a new method for assessing patients' perspectives towards patient satisfaction was developed and the project clearly identified that patients and staff have different perceptions concerning pain management. The results of this project were shared with the administrative leaders on 5W, as well as administrative leaders within UMHC.
