Ancillary Service Scheduling Project

Currently, ancillary services are ordered on an as-needed basis for in-patients, even though certain tests are needed on a daily basis. The current practice can cause problems with efficiently getting the testing completed. The goal of this pilot project will be to develop a system to schedule routine CT scans for inpatients such that both the nurses and the patients will have a much better understanding of when the scan will occur. The project will be piloted in three selected units. However, the long term plan will be to expand to other inpatient units using the processes that have been developed and refined.
