The Center for Health Care Quality

Goals

The mission of the Center is to lead innovation in health services delivery and health professions education to reach exceptional levels of quality and value.

CHCQ fosters synergy among departments and programs in interdisciplinary innovation and research in the improvement in health care delivery and health professions education. The goal is to have the University of Missouri nationally and internationally recognized for health services research, health professions education, and quality of care. Core competencies of the center include outcomes measurement and process improvement, leadership and systems change, decision support and knowledge-based systems, and education innovation and evaluation.

The Center integrates efforts from multiple departments within the School of Medicine, in partnership with the Schools of Nursing and Health Professions and MU Health Care (MUHC), to develop and demonstrate quality outcomes through process improvement. CHCQ draws on faculty and other centers throughout the university. It will collaborate s with other health systems throughout Missouri and nationally.

Within the Center are three programs: Health Services Research, Quality Improvement, and Education Innovation and Improvement. This structure allows each area to be self-defining with its own director, responsibilities and authority, while building on their shared commitment to innovation and quality improvement through research, evaluation and demonstration projects.
