A University of Missouri student team competed in the CLARION 2008 Interprofessional Team Case Competition on April 12, 2008 in Minneapolis. The team was sponsored by CHCQ and the department of Health Management & Informatics in the School of Medicine, the Sinclair School of Nursing, and the School of Health Professions.
The CLARION 2008 Interprofessional Team Case Competition, hosted by the University of Minnesota, promotes interprofessional leadership development and focuses attention on enhancing health care quality and safety. The goals are based on the premise that providing safe, high-quality patient-centered care will require breaking down the usual isolated, disciplinary approach to patient care and health professional education.
Nine teams from academic health centers across the nation competed by analyzing a realistic health care case and suggesting systems change to improve care. Teams were given the case in advance and presented their analyses and recommendations in Minneapolis. The students representing the University of Missouri were:
- Louis Magdits, HMI; Faculty sponsor: Dr. Robert DeGraaff
- Luke Stephens, Medicine; Faculty sponsor: Dr. Amanda Allmon
- Chris Johanning, Nursing; Faculty sponsor: Dr. Roxanne McDaniel
- Megan Rau, MPH; Faculty sponsor; Dr. Kristofer Hagglund
