Collaborative Research Faculty Development Initiative (CRFDI)

The Collaborative Research Faculty Development Initiative (CRFDI) is being offered again in 2009-2010 to enhance the research tools of faculty. Phase I, the Research Basics Seminar Series, consists of 12 weekly ninety-minute sessions, with each session addressing a core element in the development of research expertise. Each session involves not only lectures on the topic, but also time for individuals to apply the information to their own research efforts. In addition, interested individuals from the Research Basics Seminar Series may participate in a Phase II mentoring experience directed at developing a network of collaborators, conducting pilot studies, developing grant proposals and/or developing publications or presentations. Eligible participants include junior and mid-level faculty with an expressed interest in medical health services, medical education, or clinical improvement research. Individuals selected to participate in the mentored experience group must be nominated by their Department Chair, and must be committed to the development of a specific research product (e.g., conducting a systematic review of the literature, developing and conducting a pilot study, submitting a grant proposal, writing a publication, preparing a conference presentation). For additional information please contact: Lanis L. Hicks, Ph.D., Associate Director for Research, Center for Health Care Quality, HicksL@health.missouri.edu.
